This weekend I will join the tail end of the Long Reach Long Riders 2018 Gap and Notch Tour: A Ramble through New England. Every year since 2004 they have toured different segments of the country seeking good motorcycle roads and to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Behind the Scenes (helping entertainment technology workers who are seriously ill or injured). If you go to their website http://www.lrlr.org you can donate to these fine charities (you get the tax credit but you can peg it to me to give me some motorcyclists street cred).
I have met only one of the Riders (who taught me to ride in the first place) and so will get to meet a whole cadre of terrific motorcyclists on the trip.
I had a confidential source supply what is purported to be a photo of the group in advance (to maintain his anonymity I will only reveal his initials are DJT). As he says: “Many people have told me that this photo is of the gang you plan to ride with. I don’t know them personally, but they look like scooter trash to me. But some, I assume, are nice people. Who knows? We’ll see!”
I’ll let you know if they are as nice as the picture indicates and bring back some pictures of the real folks!
As always you can find more at http://www.walterthinnes.com and on Twitter @walterthinnes
TOMORROW: a soulful review
