Got around to seeing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new piece, School of Rock the Musical. I have not seen the movie it was based on, I just don’t get to see that many movies.
The stage show is extremely high energy, has lots of very talented kids and is very well put together. As complicated as my feeling are about Lord Lloyd Webber, I have always enjoyed his rock musicals. He does very well here, keeping the thing interesting. I do not remember and will not be humming any of the music a couple of days later, but it was a good time.
Amazingly the amplification was not over done and the lyrics were intelligible so good job crew. Alex Brightman was as much a force as I had heard and more so. He leads a very talented ensemble.
Looking for a good time at the theater I highly recommend it. Not necessarily for depth and insight, but for a relaxing good time, absolutely. Go see it.
