I have a confession to make. I am, and I do not take this lightly … my name is Walter and I am a Thespian. Have been for most of my life. While I was interested in theatre from the time of high school I didn’t know much about it. I was working on a sketch for theatre class in my freshman year in an open classroom with the talented Fred Singerman and an English teacher came from the next classroom and asked if the two of us “thespians would please keep it down.”
We were young and stupid and the word “thespian” had a vaguely naughty sound to us but we didn’t know what it meant. We hurried to the library to understand the epithet and discover it simply meant “actor.” OK, we could deal with that. And so we both joined a society to commemorate it and the certificate is below. Joseph Megel was our president and Karen K. Kramer was my estimable teacher. Yes, I can say it now. I am a….a thespian. More on that later but I am officially certified. Thought you would want to know…
