Have you tried Graeter’s Ice Cream? Founded in Cincinnati in 1870 they still make ice cream by hand 2 1/2 gallons at a time in a French Pot. What is that? You gotta see it:

They have amazing regular flavors and tempting seasonal flavors (we just tried their Rocky Road, not available again until next year – amazing!).
Coming up they have Chunky Chunky Hippo (in honor of Fiona, the much photographed baby hippo at the Cincinnati Zoo) and Pistachio (my Dad’s favorite flavor and one of mine as well). I need to be clear that the Fiona flavor does not include hippopotamus meat but is actually more like Tin Roof, for those that remember that ancient flavor.
It is expensive to have shipped to New York but so worth it. Check them out. You will not be sorry.
