Here we go. The North American Soccer Futbol World Cup is under way with matches taking place in Canada, Mexico, and especially the United States. It will be all the talk for next many weeks and if you want to get a primer about the sport and the tournament – this is not the blog to study. Sorry, I am a baseball guy and know little about soccer futbol.

But you can look it on other blogs and websites, might even be interesting. My extent of soccer futbol knowledge is the Apple TV series “Ted Lasso” which I am reviewing to see if I learned anything. I do know that they are all chasing this thing.

Though I won’t place a bet on something I know so little about, I have put on my prediction outfit to give you insight. If I am correct, I will forever tout my expertise about soccer futbol. If I am wrong you can be sure this post will disappear. As I gaze into my crystal ball I see a flag that is red, white and blue.

And the answer is – no, not what you are thinking. I predict the winner of the 2026 World Cup will be – The Netherlands. All I know about this team is they have a red, white and blue flag, there are windmills and tulips and they wear (I think) orange uniforms. Because, maybe a safety issue? No idea. So go ahead and bet on them, but don’t bother me if you lose.
