My 2026 Reds Backsliding as June begins

In baseball we play 162 games over a long and trying season. It is not possible to win every game. The measure of success is often how many series (usually three games) you can claim. My Reds just finished series with the Atlanta Braves and the Kansas City Royals. We are struggling. We have talented players. One of our recent acquisitions – JJ Bleday was just named NL Player of the month for May.

We have plenty of talented players but they can’t seem to consistently perform when the pressure is on. While there were some highlights May was pretty miserable. We lost our last two series 2-1. I understand the hot Braves but the sagging Royals? Really? After a hot start to the season we continue to droop and slide back.

Now is the time of the season where we must improve our efforts. We are still slightly above .500 and still in the hunt in the potent NL Central. Time to start roaring. Our next two series are with the Division Rivals St. Louis Cardinals and the over performing San Diego Padres. All are away games and it is time to put on our big boy pants and teach these teams some lessons. I still have faith. Go Reds!
