National Hamburger Day

Ah, the versatile and omnipresent hamburger. Today is its day. Its origin is murky and disputed. Perhaps it began in the 1800’s but became defined in American minds at the start of the 20th Century. Maybe it came from the city of Hamburg, German, or may not. Who cares. It serves as a quick and easy canvas for simple pleasures and complicated get-ups. It is easily made at home and readily available in fast food and diner joints everywhere and ubiquitous in our culture.

“I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.” – Wimpy

It can be classic and direct.

Or as ridiculous as you desire. Have it simple or have it complicated or deconstructed. But have one today in celebration. Bon Appetit.
