May is still a disastrous month for the Cincinnati Reds, but the recent series win against the very tough Phillies on their home turf was a welcome pause. We need more such series coming up and the rest of the season. The streaking April was an anomaly. Baseball is incremental, a marathon, not a sprint, and any grinding metaphor I can dig up. The next two weeks will be telling. We still have a winning record but must climb the ladder in a very tough Central Division. Our home series against the Cardinals is important but not crucial.
