Mark Kurlansky is one of my favorite authors and I would highly recommend any book written by him. Recently I completed his book 1968 – The Year That Rocked The World.

I am especially interested in this period because it was in that year that I became interested in politics and the wider world as I was growing up. I was familiar with much of the basic information but fascinated by his depiction of the details and interconnections related by Mr. Kurlansky. He covers the unrest around the world and their ties to each other well and completely. He does not go into deep detail but provides close insight through original sources.

It is a brisk read and captivated my attention throughout. If you are interested in the history of the period this is an excellent starting point and you will not be disappointed.
