Summer Solstice 2023 – gonna be a hot summer

Summer Solstice occurs today at 10:57 AM. Get ready for a long hot summer thanks to the ravages of global warming. Here in Florida, it almost never hits 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the month of May but this year it is a harbinger of things to some. If you are familiar with our usual climate summer in Florida is marked by hot days and then frequent afternoon showers (due partly because we are a peninsula that receives sea breezes from each side and that hot air hold more moisture). Our summer rains have been unpredictable but heavier than usual so far this year. Lots of lightning and heavier than usual downpours at unpredictable times. Worse yet we’ve already experienced several tornadoes and the hurricane season is already threatening early. Should be a tough summer here that we will have to watch closely. Stay safe.
