Short+Sweet Play Festival is a franchise of sorts that started in Sydney, Australia. There are Short+Sweet Festivals in Hollywood, Dubai, Singapore and a number of other cities. A judging committee selects a “shortlist” of short plays and distributed them to a group of directors who choose one or several, cast them, rehearse them, and present them as part of an annual festival in each city. More than 900 scripts were submitted for consideration for the upcoming Sydney festival and the committee pulled out more than 100 to be chosen from.

My most recent short work, “Celebrity Divorce” was one of those plays on the shortlist, essentially a finalist for the festival. No idea if a director will find it interesting enough to produce it, but I am thrilled to add an Australian credit to my list. I will post here if it is picked up and if there is a streaming opportunity. Otherwise, check your Quantas schedule to go and see the show. Let me know what you think, if you do, and bring me back some shrimp I hear they keep putting on the Barbie for some reason. Strange folks them Aussies!
