Today’s National Day is very much based in the motor age and Drive Thru windows have been around for less than a century. I imagine a horse and buggy pulling up and yelling into a speaking tube to order. “Aye sir,” he is told, “trot up to the first window and pay the maiden there a ha’penny before picking up your grub at the next window.” I wonder what recreation would have come in a nineteenth century Happy Meal.
But Drive Thru windows and munching in your car have become much more important in a Coronavirus environment when people are concerned about dining close to others indoors. So roll through a Drive Thru window today, wear a mask when you are at said window, but be sure to remove it before digging into your meal. Enjoy!
