During stay at home orders like we are working through in New York City one is always looking for things to wile away the lonely hours. The card game known as Klondike or any form of playing card Solitaire is one solution.
But most people today are more familiar with the version found on your computer or smart phone. I was an early adopter of home computers and so was often called upon to introduce newbies to those blinking mysterious desktop boxes. I always advised them to use the Solitaire program to hone their mouse skills as at least the game was familiar when everything else was novel.
Not surprisingly, this national day was founded by Microsoft exactly thirty years ago to celebrate the popularity of the game on their software platform. So go ahead and play some Solitaire as you sit at home today to celebrate. It will indeed eat up some time.
