National Hobbit Day

I know, I know. Now-a-days we have Harry Potter and Game of Thrones and every category of sorcery and fantasy programs. We even have the great Peter Jackson movies of J.R.R. Tolkien’s classics. But if you have not read the original books, do yourself a favor and pick one up today. They are worth it and they started it all. In high school and college my nickname to some was “The Hobbit” as I liked to quietly smoke a pipe and read books. Today was named Hobbit Day and Tolkien Week in 1978. Read the original today in celebration.

“In a hole in the ground there live a Hobbit…”
