Earth Day has been with us since 1970 and small steps have been taken since then. Bigger things are necessary if we are to save our planet. So many people think of forests and pastures in connection with Earth Day but I think we should think of cities instead.
The co-op where I live in New York we have about 225 residences between two buildings. Not only does that help energy efficiency the corporation have a number of programs that help the earth:
> Recycling of plastics, glass, metal, newsprint, magazines, and cardboard.
> Collection site for clothing for the disadvantaged.
> Collection site for electronics that keep many chemicals and metals out of landfills.
> My favorite: food waste recycling that is turned into compost.
Earth Day is not just about verdant visions, but is real life action to better protect our precious planet.

#ATOBTTR update. So the Cincinnati Reds are improving and clearly listening to my advise. As I have noted, we can’t win them all but if we could simply win each series we will get there. This weekend the Reds won 3 out 4 over the Padres and we get closer. Next we take on the Braves at home. Go Reds!
