New York Theater Grab Bag

Ride Down Mount Scary FINAL

First a reminder that my short play (poster above) is at the Players Theatre NEXT weekend.  If you are in New York that weekend (October 25-28) we hope to see you there.  Check the poster or footnote for more information and be sure to use the discount code when ordering on line or at the door.

SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE at off-Broadway’s Stage 42 is closing early, on November 4.  It never found its audience and that is a shame as I thought it was a great job to revisit this fun show.  You can find my original review back on July 16 and if you have not seen it, you should go before it disappears.

The Kurt Vonnegut classic HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WANDA JUNE is back and now at the Duke on 42nd Street.  I enjoyed it (my review was on May 18) and happy to see it back again.  Highly recommended.

MY PARSIFAL CONDUCTOR continues at the West Side YMCA Little Theater (my recent review was October 12).  You can get a discount code below and it only runs a few more weeks.  I have heard other reviewers complain that the comedy employed by the director is not suitable to the horrific ant-semitism of composer Richard Wagner.  I strongly disagree.  Sometimes it takes comedy to better illuminate difficult topics (Springtime for Hitler comes to mind as Mel Brooks deftly used humor in The Producers).  Though Wagner and his contemporaries were quite serious about their horrific views, we get to laugh at his pretentious views while Conductor Levi is easily seen as the adult in the room.  See for yourself and use the discount code to save money.
