Review – Broadway by the Year 1956 & 1975

Broadway by the Year is essentially an show business cabaret in the 1500 seat Town Hall in midtown.  Scott Siegel has put on nearly a score of these events but last night was the first time I had the chance to see one.  It was terrific and I’ll be looking to attend more going forward.  With Ross Patterson on the piano accompanied by a bass and drums do an admiral job of accompanying first rate talent from experienced and up and coming Broadway talent.

By focusing on musicals from the years 1956 and 1975 we got to hear selections from Bells are Ringing, Candide, My Fair Lady, The Most Happy Fella, A Chorus Line, Chicago, Shenandoah, The Wiz and much more.  It was a crowded program kept moving with trivia and reflection by Mr. Siegel.  Every single performer was terrific, wanted to especially call out Joshua Israel, Maxine Linehan and the incomparable Carolee Carmello.
