Many of us in America look forward to the Winter Olympics every four years to get our curiosity fulfilled in what is to us the odd sport of curling. One person pushes a heavy stone along an icy course and others sweep the ice path as the rock heads for a target, possibly nudging a different rock from the target. Sort of a winter shuffleboard. You’re in luck! Starting this week is the opening of the first professional curling league! You can check it out yourself at https://www.rockleague.com. The Rock League has six teams – two from Canada, two from the United States, one from Europe, and one from Asia. Each match has a men’s game, a woman’s game and a mixed game.

I’m afraid I have no history of curling interest and since it appears to happen simultaneously with the US Baseball season, I am unlikely to take a rooting interest. I do I have one concern though. Since the average curling stone weighs 42 pounds and this is an international league I worry for the luggage fees by airline companies for their travel costs. Happy curling!
