With the most hopeful Spring Training of recent Cincinnati Reds history I am reminded of their most illustrious feline fan. Yes, my favorite cat of all time, Macaroon. Celebrating him today on his birthday (litter day?) hmmm…

Quick reminder of his back story. When my then wife’s friend’s cat had a litter we stopped by to see if we might be interested in adopting one. We sat cross legged on one side of a room with the litter in a cardboard box on the other side of the room. The plan was for them to carry the tiny kittens across the room one at a time for us to check to see if we were interested. Before they got started, one kitten, on his own volition, jumped out the box and made a beeline across the room and jumped into my lap. I was adopted by the kitten.

Because I am a Cincinnati Reds, Macaroon became a Cincinnati Reds fan. He also picked up my other hobbies. Such as napping…

The first Spring Training Game of the season is scheduled for Saturday. I cannot wait. All to say wherever in heaven Macaroon is now, he is as excited as I am for the 2024 campaign. Join the chorus with me and The Mac: “Go Reds!”
