Throwback Thursday – to the year before I was born in Reds History

Quick check in on my Cincinnati Reds’ season. Much to the surprise of the baseball world (and the delight of me) they are in first place in the NL Central Division. Woo-hoo! They have been playing great baseball for the last several weeks and routinely stage comebacks and walk-offs to win games. In fact, they have now won eleven straight games which is the longest streak for the Reds franchise since…well since this gentleman was playing his rookie season for the Redlegs.

Yep, the incredible Frank Robinson played his rookie season with Cincinnati. They have their best streak since 1957, the year before I was born. Why, I wasn’t quite yet a glimmer in my parents eyes since they last accomplished this. Go Reds because…

Starting tomorrow they welcome the Atlanta Braves to Great American Ballpark for a weekend series. The Braves have been streaking pretty well themselves and are firmly in charge of the NL Eastern Division. Should be quite the exciting series. Here’s wishing that when next week arrives they will have tied the record of fourteen straight wins which would tie the 1899 Cincinnati Reds team. I can wish, right? Go Reds!

    1. Sometimes the chemistry of a team works out to astound the baseball world. I don’t know and I don’t care how long it lasts, I am thrilled right now. Go Reds! indeed!
