International Fact Checking Day

The day after April Fools Day is International Fact Checking Day. Todays media landscape if filled with deliberate lies, falsehoods, exaggerations, and misinformation. Yes, I listen to some social media but always try to back it up with my own research and other reading. I can’t tell you who to trust (though I highly recommend the New York Times, PBS Newshour and several excellent NPR sources). One of the most notable in this category is the WNYC show and podcast “On The Media.” On their website you can find a number of “Breaking News Consumer Handbooks.” They highlight common failings of media breaking news mistakes to watch for in a summary format. They are worth the visit and will help you separate truth from the usual noise. Check them out here…
