At the start of the week culminating in St. Patrick’s Day we find International Bagpipe Day. Bagpipes typically inspire strong reactions. It may surprise you to know that I rather enjoy bagpipe music (but then again, my singing voice has been compared to cats being strangled). Indeed, I enjoyed bagpipe music as a young child. My parents set me down in the midst of a bagpipe parade and snapped this picture.

Well, they didn’t want my precious ears to be injured. Of course that picture is not of me (you can tell because it is not in black and white because I did not live in a full color environment until I was four years old). All joking aside, I truly do enjoy bagpipe music, but better from some distance. Like two hillsides away. Play on bagpipers on your very special day.
