Throwback Thursday – Some photos and Reaching out to help…

Recently an extended family member suffered an unexpected tragedy. Dennis Mahoney is the long time husband of my dear cousin Kim. She passed away a few years back from cancer (and my tribute to her is included in this blog if you search). His home was struck a by particularly strong bolt of lightning. The full story can be found here.

There are two ways that they need help. Family members have set up a Go Fund Me page to offer assistance and it can be found here.

Not only was their house a total loss but they lost everything in it, including family memorabilia and photos. Our family has set up a Google Drive for us to pool photos to restock their memories. I have just started the effort to go through my computer to find ones they may be interested in. Later I will look through some boxes where there may be more that have not been scanned. The search and seeing the memories prompted today’s Throwback Thursday…

Here are two photos taken during Dennis and Kim’s visit to New York in 2019. We toured through Greenwich Village and I took them to a Magic Show at the Players Theater. During the show Dennis was called to be a volunteer for the illusion and he had some sharp insights.

But to waaaay back, I had a 110 camera back in the day and here are a couple of scanned images from, I think, 1979 or so. In the first Dennis sits with my cousin Chris (I think at a piano) and her sister Kim sits with our cousin Lana. Back in the day…

There are a few more, but to finish with one of my favorite shots. I surprised Kim for combination Christmas/Birthday party (the same day for Kim) by coming into Cincinnati from New York. One of my favorite photos of all time to return to their memory collection (clockwise from upper left Kim, her sister Chris, their mother Priscilla and me).
