In Memoriam – James Earl Jones

While it is true that people die everyday, it is not everyday that we lose a giant such as James Earl Jones. A great man in size, in voice, in talent, and in our memories. He passed away yesterday at 93 years of age. Of course, I have seen many of his films and reveled in his voice ver roles from Mustafa to Darth Vader. Abandoned as a child he struggled against a stutter to possess a quite exceptional set of vocal cords. Though he started working on Broadway before I was born, I only got to enjoy two of his productions in person. Both in 2015 I saw him in ‘The Gin Game’ with Cicely Tyson and leading a rousing and star stuffed production of ‘You Can’t Take It With You.’ An amazing talent.
