About three weeks ago I joined a workshop run by a Portland, Oregon theatre company called THE PULP STAGE. They focus on oral story telling techniques to drive the action through dialogue only and focus on several supernatural themes. The Artistic Director John Marks led three writers (Alicia Whavers, Scott C. Sickles, and myself) through their approach and asked each of us to write a brand new short play for the event. After several sessions with all of us contributing insight and support, we finished them in time for tonight’s reading. John selected a director and several actors to read the scripts aloud tonight. It was a fascinating process and I am proud of the piece I wrote and fascinated by the work of the other writers. I hope you can tune in this evening and would love to hear your thoughts of the work.
