For decades, nay centuries, little girls have been encouraged to dream of and dress up as little princesses. It was extremely unrealistic that any of them would ever meet a prince, let alone live a storybook life. Along the way it taught them to give up agency and wait to be rescued. Various animation houses have tried to introduce a new model of a princess. Maybe instead of trying to reframe what a princess is, it is time to change our approach to raise up our daughters as full fledged members of society, not a fairy tale fantasy.
